The refurbishment of an empty restaurant to provide new, high quality work space for the Nationwide Building Society completed two months early and within budget.

Project

Beard stripped out the old ground floor restaurant area and converted 23,000 sq ft into high quality offices and a new call centre. Beard’s professional approach and excellent teamwork skills meant that despite having to incorporate an extra kitchen and reposition a communications room, the scheme was completed two months early and within the allocated budget.

As a testimony to the Beard team’s excellent work and lack of disruption, the client has since awarded Beard further work.

Challenges

  • Working on and around ‘live’ systems
  • Avoiding disruption to other building users
  • Dealing with customer changes throughout the project

Solutions

Shared ‘live’ systems had to be isolated and shut down at agreed times and plans were made for noisy operations to occur outside of office hours. Any customer changes were incorporated and seamlessly and efficiently as possible in order to keep on schedule.

“Beard stripped out the old restaurant and built new quality offices to a high standard.  Great teamwork and a professional approach to this refurbishment job meant the team was very efficient and easy to work with, the net result being the project was completed on budget and almost two months early.” Andrew Body, Acting as Employers Agent for the Landlords Whitemarsh Lockhart
