At Beard, building strong communities goes hand-in-hand with building great places. And this year, we’re proud to share that the Beard Charitable Foundation has awarded £66,300 in grants to 16 fantastic charities based in Oxfordshire.
The grants are made possible through the Foundation’s named fund, managed by Oxfordshire Community Foundation (OCF). Established in 2016 with an initial £250,000 donation from the Beard family, the fund supports grassroots initiatives, employee-led fundraising, and construction-related education projects across Oxfordshire and beyond.
This year’s efforts were powered by Beard’s own people. Employees in the Oxford office selected Oxford University Sport & Community Partnership as their Charity of the Year. Their fundraising highlights included a 2,420-mile “cyclathon”, a summer BBQ, and a volunteer garden clear-out.
The cyclathon alone raised £8,200, which was then match-funded by the Beard Charitable Foundation to reach £16,400, helping the charity empower young people through sport and physical activity.
Among the 16 charities to benefit from this year’s funding are:
-
Oxfordshire Homeless Movement – awarded £1,000 to support its mission of ensuring no one has to sleep rough in the county.
-
Alzheimer’s Society Oxfordshire – received £1,000 to continue providing vital guidance, advocacy and community-based services for people living with dementia and their families.
These grants are just a snapshot of the Foundation’s wider impact, which spans projects that strengthen communities and provide essential support to those most in need.
“I’m extremely proud of our team’s efforts and it is inspiring to see our colleagues’ commitment to giving back participation in a wide variety of events. We’re thrilled to see the foundation continue to grow, enabling us to support grassroots initiatives that create lasting impact across Oxfordshire.”
