Beard is a large, regional, main contractor, where you will have the opportunity to visit unique and exciting projects, up to £30m. Our work experience programme provides exposure to many of the trade and management roles in construction, as well as a day in the office to see all the work that happens behind the scenes.

The opportunity to experience life on a live site gives students a chance to better understand the huge variety of construction jobs and skills, find out more about the different pathways into industry, build their confidence and visualise a career for themselves. Construction covers a wide variety of sectors and work environments, every day is different.
The construction industry is responsible for building, refurbishing and decarbonising the infrastructure around us - our homes, schools, hospitals, libraries, leisure centres, museums, stadiums, offices, and our roads and transport links - everything we need to live, work, play and thrive.
We strive to provide valuable work experience from year 10 and up for students with a genuine interest in the built environment, with the aim of inspiring young people into careers in construction

Whether you’re interested in project management, site management, quantity surveying, design, commercial, sustainability or business support, you’ll gain first-hand experience of working within a professional construction company. Throughout your placement, you’ll be supported by experienced colleagues who will share their knowledge, answer your questions and help you understand the wide range of careers available within the industry.
