Collaboration, delivery and place: our reflections on UKREiiF 2026

Another UKREiiF has come to a close and, after a packed few days in Leeds, the Beard team is bringing plenty of ideas and insights back to our offices.

Luke Bennett, Pre-Construction Manager, Matt Leach, Head of Frameworks, and Martin Pomroy, Special Projects Manager, attended the three-day event, the UK's leading conference within the real estate, property and infrastructure sectors.

It was a packed schedule and this year’s event once again demonstrated the strength, resilience and energy across the built environment sector. Despite the challenges facing the industry, there was a sense of optimism throughout the week.

Leeds once again delivered the perfect backdrop for bringing people, projects and ideas together. If there’s one thing that stood out this year, it’s the sheer energy across the sector – despite the challenges, there’s a real sense of momentum building.

A key theme running through many conversations was the changing expectation of what successful development and construction now looks like. Sustainability is no longer optional, social value must be meaningful and measurable, and the impact of the Building Safety Act continues to reshape the way projects are designed and delivered. Together, these priorities are driving higher standards across the industry.

Several key reflections stood out for the Beard team during the event. First, that relationships still matter most. While the panel discussions and keynote sessions were valuable, the real impact often came from the conversations between events, over breakfast, and in the margins of the main agenda. Construction remains a people-focused industry built on collaboration and trust.

Secondly, there is now a stronger emphasis on delivery. Discussions have shifted away from ambition towards the practical realities of funding, planning and partnerships needed to bring projects forward successfully.

There was also a growing recognition of the importance of place. From regeneration projects to infrastructure investment, towns, regions and local identity are playing an increasingly significant role in shaping long-term success.

A huge thank you goes to everyone who organised, contributed to and attended UKREiiF 2026, as well as to our Beard colleagues back in the office whose support made the week possible.

We look forward to continuing the conversations in the months ahead.
