Beard scoops Bronze at CCS National Site Awards

It was a night to remember for Beard at the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) National Site Awards last month, as multiple projects received Bronze Awards.

The annual awards celebrate sites, organisations and individuals that demonstrate outstanding commitment to the Code of Considerate Practice, with a focus on Community, Environment and Workforce.

For Beard, the results reflect the care and consistency shown by teams across its regional offices, and the importance placed on delivering projects responsibly, transparently and to a high standard.

Bronze Awards were presented to Beard teams working at:

  • Stonehenge Learning Centre
  • VIVO Buckley Barracks Hangar 3
  • One Friary, Bristol
  • Sydenham High School
  • University of Winchester MRL Refurbishment
  • Wadswick Green
“We’re incredibly proud to see so many of our project teams recognised by the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Maintaining high standards is not something that happens at the end of a project; it is built into the way our teams work every day, from how we communicate with neighbours and clients to how we look after our people, manage our environmental impact and keep live sites safe.

These awards are a credit to everyone involved and reflect the pride Beard takes in delivering responsibly, consistently and with care.”

Mike Hedges, Company Operations Director

One of the recognised projects is Beard’s work at GDST Sydenham High School, where the team is helping to transform the school’s estate and create new facilities for pupils, staff and the wider school community.

The project includes the demolition of an existing bungalow, construction of a new three-storey entrance building, and refurbishment and extension of the existing Lodge Building. Once complete, the development will provide a modern new entrance building with classrooms, maker spaces and gallery space, alongside a purpose-built Sixth Form Centre with separate access.

Working within a live school environment has required careful planning and close collaboration with both Sydenham High School and the local community. Beard has committed to regular updates on progress as well as potential disruptions.

The team has also welcomed groups of students onto site for regular tours, helping pupils to see first-hand how a complex construction project develops over time. These visits provide a valuable opportunity to bring the project to life, offering insight into design, engineering, site safety and the many careers involved in construction.

Across all six award-winning projects, the Bronze Awards recognise the dedication of Beard’s site teams and supply chain partners. From education and defence to refurbishment, community-focused development and heritage-sensitive work, each project brings its own challenges.

What connects them is a shared commitment to doing things properly: protecting the public, supporting the workforce, respecting the environment and maintaining open, honest communication throughout.

Beard is proud to see its regional teams recognised for their consistent excellence. Congratulations to everyone involved in these projects and to the teams whose hard work continues to raise standards across the industry.
