Oxford team raises thousands in charity Cyclathon

Participants smashed it at Beard’s recent charity Cyclathon, raising over £20,140 while clocking up hundreds of cycling miles.

Coupled with a contribution of £23,460 from the Beard Charitable Foundation, the event generated thousands to support young people across Oxfordshire.

Spearheaded by Senior Bid Manager Luke Bennett and Beard's Oxford office, the event took place at the Iffley Road Sports Complex and brought together 32 teams from across the construction industry.

Architects, engineers, surveyors and project managers each took their turn in the saddle, cycling hundreds of miles collectively in a bid to top the leaderboard and raise as much money as possible.

The Cyclathon was in support of the Oxford University Sport and Community Partnership. This initiative, a collaboration between the University of Oxford and local business leaders, helps young people access inspiring sports and enrichment activities that may otherwise be out of reach.

This was about bringing people together as a community to cycle with purpose, raise some money, and have a good time doing it. We're super grateful to our event sponsors for getting behind the cause - it feels like a real partnership.

Competition on the day was fierce, with teams battling it out for a place on the podium. The final results saw:

  • Oxford Architects LLP taking first place

  • Ridge and Partners LLP securing second

  • Glanville Consultants Ltd crossing the line in third

  • fjcstudio picking up the light-hearted wooden spoon

The success of the Cyclathon was supported by a number of generous event sponsors, including Leda Group, NBJ (London) Limited, M&M Waste Solutions, CPS Building Services Ltd, Berkeley Integra, Lee Marley Group, Goldmax Ltd, Progress Soft Tissue Therapy and Hobs Repro.

The Cyclathon is always a fantastic opportunity for teams to come together, challenge themselves and raise money for a worthy cause.

A huge well done to the participants, sponsors and supporters who helped make this year’s Cyclathon such a success.
