Second phase of transformation at Brunel’s historic Carriage Works

Breathing new life into an iconic building

We have completed the second phase of redevelopment at Swindon’s Grade II listed Carriage Works.

The £2.5m project saw the structural refurbishment and re-roofing of two units, as well as the construction of a mezzanine level.

Unit 7 will be an Innovation Centre for Applied Sustainable Technologies for the University of Bath, while unit 9 will serve as a state-of-the-art media facility for local production company Create Studios.

The two newly refurbished units have been delivered ready for use this summer.

It forms just one part of a wider regeneration project by Swindon Borough Council, utilising major government investment to breathe new life into the historic site and upgrade other parts of the town.

We’ve been proud to not only play our part in the long-term regeneration of this historic building, but in safeguarding the future of our vibrant town. Our guiding principle is to build with ambition and this fantastic project embodies that ethos by providing a platform for trailblazing research and exciting businesses to grow and share our vision. As the heritage sector continues to play an important role in the UK economy, we’re delighted to utilise our expertise alongside respected partners.
